Abstract
To monitor the development trend of coal fire in Wuda mining area and reduce the economic losses caused by spontaneous coal combustion, based on landsat-8 satellite image data, the land surface temperature of Wuda mining area in Inner Mongolia was inverted and the coal fire information was extracted by means of the radiation-transfer- equation method, the single-window-inversion algorithm, and the split window algorithm, etc. Combined with on-the- spot investigation and the data provided by Environmental Monitoring Center of Wuda City, the effectiveness of land surface inversion outcomes was verified. The results show that:the outcomes deduced from above mentioned three in- version algorithms are consistent with the spatial distribution of surface temperature above underground coal fire area. Moreover, the outcomes of the split window algorithm, which takes two thermal infrared bands into account, are more consistent with the actual measured temperatures, the deviation is only 0. 5 ℃ ,and the boundary of abnormal high tem- perature area can be shown distinctly,so it has certain applicability in the inversion of underground coal fire.
